Not many artist’s life journeys are as unique as that of Ian Fairweather. He is not only iconic on Bribie Island but around the world and is considered one of Australia’s greatest painters. To reflect his well-known “sophisticated clumsiness” (often using cheap materials), I used some found origami scrap paper, cheap butchers paper, kids acrylic paint, charcoal, pencil, glue and ink to create a portrait in front of his shanty on Bribie. I based the portrait on various photographs by Robert Walker which to me represented the artist in the acme of his artistic journey.
