Adolescent Metamorphosis

As a mother , I am curious to know how the adolescent stage will play out. This painting explores the idea that adolescents have a complex set of beliefs and that their feelings are unique. During this period of time, a child has a great deal of concern over his/her body image. The superhero outfit symbolises a defence mechanism to assist in the unending conflict and complicatedness of the changes occurring to their body. The crow is known as an “omen of change”, warning of the unrest and confusion the child faces in the way they see the world. There is a saying from an unknown source that says “The Crow calls to awaken you to your true soul’s purpose and to remind you to follow your purpose”.
