Nomad of the spirit

I have completed this paining for a local art prize -

Each year my local community comes alive to experience medieval times at the abbey medieval festival. Here, I’ve created a free and dynamic painting demonstrating the beautiful gypsy dancers passionate, exuberant and high-energy dancing. Their costumes are embellished with bells and chains making whimsical sounds as they move. The colourfulness of the dresses was intended to divert one’s attention away from the poverty they often endured in medieval times. I wanted this painting to strike the right balance between intuition, freedom, construction and colour harmony. The indiscernible background is awash in varying hues of green with hints of pale and deep pink in contrast to the movement of the dancer.
